Ensure the pump is inactive before draining

Drain the pump through the drain plugs if no antifreeze is present

Has a suitable antifreeze been added to the water?

Describe any precautions taken to prevent damage or injuries from the drained liquid

Remove the motor following steps 1 through 4 in the Mechanical Seal Replacement section

For motor frames 213TC and larger, remove the motor hex cap screws and motor adapter

Install the motor adapter flange onto the new motor

Torque the 4 hex cap screws to the specified values in the Engineering Data section

Complete the reassembly following steps 17 through 22 in the Mechanical Seal Replacement section

Note any additional unit service or maintenance required

Contact local dealer or Goulds Water Technology distributor for assistance if needed

Check motor operating conditions

Is the motor operating at elevated temperatures?

Increase lubrication frequency if operating at elevated temperatures

Ensure not to intermix grease bases (lithium, sodium, etc.)

Completely purge old grease if changing grease base

Avoid over greasing to prevent excessive bearing temperatures and failures

WARNING — DISCONNECT AND LOCKOUT ELECTRICAL POWER BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY MAINTENANCE. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN CAUSE SHOCK, BURNS OR DEATH.

Mechanical Seal Replacement (e-SV 1–125) — Conventional Seal

Close all necessary suction and discharge valves to isolate the pump from the system.

Drain the liquid from the pump by removing the drain plug and opening the needle valve on the vent plug.

Remove the coupling guards, the 4 coupling hex cap screws, the coupling and coupling drive pin.

Remove the 4 motor hex cap screws (inner screws) on the seal housing.

Remove the seal housing plate on 33-125SV models using the two tapped holes provided.

Turn the seal housing upside down and remove the stationary seat and o-ring. Inspect and clean the seal seat.
