Review NFPA Code 72 and Standard 90A

Check operational temperature limits of smoke detectors

Relocate smoke detectors if installed in areas outside operational temperature range

Ensure sampling tube holes face into the air stream

Seal the far-end of the sampling tube with the plastic end cap

Adjust unit's supply airflow to provide a pressure differential across the smoke detector's sampling and exhaust ports

Measure pressure differential across the smoke detector's sampling and exhaust ports

Verify pressure differential is between 0.01 and 1.11 inches of water

Test the smoke detector according to NFPA 72 requirements

Open the main shut-off valve to admit normal gas pressure to the mains.

Check all joints for leaks using a soap solution or other suitable material.

Inspect the unit for visible damage during transit.

Note the extent of any damage on the carrier’s freight bill.

Request inspection by the carrier’s agent in writing.

Ensure installation complies with enclosed instructions and applicable codes.

Is the furnace and its shut-off valve disconnected from the gas supply piping system?

Connect a manometer to the outlet pressure port on the gas valve to monitor the manifold pressure

Remove cover screws covering HI and LO pressure adjustment screws

Second Stage Pressure Adjustment

Set thermostat to call for second stage heat and start furnace

Is the second stage manifold pressure within 3.5 IWG ± 0.3?

Verify that the unit is properly phased at the factory.

Is the blower rotating in the correct direction?

Is the compressor rotating in the correct direction?

Measure the amperage of the scroll compressor.

Are the suction and discharge pressures normal?

Is the noise level of the scroll compressor normal?
