Remove any visible debris from the pump

Was the exterior of the pump wiped down with a clean cloth?

Clean the pump casing thoroughly

Ensure all grease fittings are free from dirt

Is the pump clean enough for inspection and repair work?

Describe any areas that require further cleaning or attention

Select the oil type based on temperature conditions

Verify the oil quantity for each Viking reducer size

Drain the old oil from the Viking reducer

Refill with new lubricant to the proper level

Is the oil filled to the proper level for each reducer size?

Loosen the two set screws in the outer face of the bearing housing

Rotate the bearing housing in a clockwise direction until it cannot be turned any more

Make a mark on the outside diameter of the bearing housing and a corresponding mark on the pump bracket

Make another mark on the pump bracket per 'Table 4' on page 14

Rotate the bearing housing in a counter clockwise direction until the mark on the outside diameter of the bearing housing lines up with the second mark on the pump bracket

Check end clearance with feeler gauge between idler and rotor faces, if possible

Ensure the pump is turned off and isolated from the power source

Gather necessary tools and materials, including Light Refrigeration Oil and a container for old oil

Place a container under the reservoir to catch the old oil

Open the drain valve and allow all old oil to completely drain out

Measure one pint of Light Refrigeration Oil

Check compatibility of the oil with Neoprene seal

Ensure the pump is turned off before starting the adjustment.

Loosen the packing gland slightly to allow for initial leakage control.

Is the packing gland adjusted without over-tightening?

Inspect for any leakage after initial adjustment.

Determine the next step based on inspection results
