Ensure the pump is turned off and isolated from the power source.

Gather necessary tools and materials, including Light Refrigeration Oil and a container for old oil.

Place a container under the reservoir to catch the old oil.

Open the drain plug and allow the oil to completely drain out.

Measure one pint of Light Refrigeration Oil.

Ensure pump, drive, and motor were properly aligned during assembly

Recheck alignment after pump unit installation

Check pump ports for proper position and squareness

Shim or move the pump as required

Ensure piping is not forced to line up with ports

Flexible Coupling Alignment Check

Remove any coupling guards or covers

Check alignment of coupling halves using a straightedge

Apply multi-purpose grease, NLGI # 2, to all lubrication fittings using a hand gun

Grease O-Pro™ seals with a lubricating fluid compatible with the process fluid

Does the application involve very high or low temperatures?

Specify the type of lubrication used for high or low temperature applications

Select the oil type based on temperature conditions

Verify the oil quantity for each Viking reducer size

Drain the old oil from the Viking reducer

Refill with the new lubricant to the proper level

Is the oil filled to the proper level for the selected size?

Ensure initial packing adjustment is made carefully

Is the packing gland over-tightened?

Does the inspection reveal the need for packing gland adjustment?

Does the inspection reveal the need for packing replacement?
