Pump Reassembling
Preparation
Clean and dry all parts.
Reassemble in the reverse manner of disassembly.
Rear Bearing Housing Installation
Install adjusting washer(s) into rear bearing housing.
Specify quantity and thickness of adjusting washers for proper rotor end play.
Bearing Installation
Insert bearing with flat washer into front and rear bearing housings.
Position flat washer side of bearing in line with set screw hole.
Pump General Inspection
Rotor Shaft Inspection
Inspect the threads on both ends of the rotor shaft for damage
Thread type verification for Teikoku Type-R (Plan 13-SE)
Mating Faces and Gasket Material
Check mating faces for nicks and burrs
Clean off any trace of old gasket material
Cleaning of Parts
Ensure all parts are clean
Use a small brush or pointed tool for inaccessible areas
Pump Bearing Inspection
Inspect thrust face for scratches and chips
Refer to Figure 4-3 (L) for excess wear on thrust surface
Check dimension after bearing has been removed
Inspect wear inside of bearing bore
Refer to Figure 4-3 (A-B)
Pump Disassembling
Pre-Disassembly Safety Measures
Observe and adhere to the end user specific lock out tag out procedures.
Fully close valves in discharge, suction, reverse circulation and utility piping.
Disconnect the power cables from the connection box prior to disassembly.
Initial Disassembly Steps
Drain pump per end user specific procedures.
Insert bracing under piping to account for potential piping loads.
Remove discharge, suction and reverse circulation flange bolting.
Pump Removal and Casing Disassembly
Pump Shaft Sleeves and Thrust Collars Inspection
Visual Inspection
Inspect the rotor assembly shaft sleeves and thrust surfaces for the following issues
Is there excessive undercutting, pitting, or scoring?
Assessment and Action
Do the shaft sleeves and thrust surfaces require replacement?
Describe any observed issues or irregularities
