Water Condensate Drain Maintenance
Warning: Always ensure the compressor is turned off and fully depressurized before starting maintenance.
Is the compressor fitted with the standard solenoid condensate drain valve?
If the compressor is not fitted with the standard solenoid condensate drain valve, stop the procedure and report to the maintenance team.
Remove the knurled cap from the strainer.
Remove the strainer screen.
Clean the screen.
Reinstall the screen.
Is the screen damaged?
If the screen is damaged, the strainer assembly must be replaced (P/N 02250171-245).
1 Yearly / 8000 Hourly Fluid Replacement
CAUTION: Do not mix different types of lubricants. Mixing lubricants can cause malfunctions or compressor damage and will void the compressor’s warranty.
CAUTION: Contamination of compressor fluids with mineral oil or other fluids can cause foaming, filter plugging, or orifice line obstruction.
Sullair encourages its customers to participate in a fluid analysis program with the fluid suppliers. In some cases, the analysis results suggest a fluid change interval that differs from the User Manual. Contact a Sullair representative for details.
When performing a fluid change or topping off the fill, the proper level should be at half of the sight glass, with the machine off.
Mixing, changing, or adding other lubricants within the compressor unit may void the air-end warranty.
Drain the receiver tank
Change the compressor fluid using instructions shown in the Lubrication Guide.
Refer to Figure 3-1 for the fluid fill port location.
Sullair’s 4500P-7500 series compressors are filled and tested at the factory with Sullube lubricant.
2000 Hourly Fluid Return/Sight Glass Maintenance
Warning: This maintenance should be performed along with that of the fluid filter.
Order filter assembly No.
Disconnect the tube at the bottom of the sight glass
Unscrew the sight glass assembly where the elbow fitting joins the strainer/filter
Remove the used filter assembly and replace it with the new assembly
Inspect and clean the orifice inside the sight glass blocks. Remove the orifice with an Allen wrench
Coat/lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease
Reattach the connectors to the sight glass/orifice blocks
Sign off on the fluid return/sight glass maintenance
Shaft Coupling Maintenance
The compressor unit and motor are rigidly connected through the mounting adapter housing.
This arrangement makes coupling alignment unnecessary.
The coupling is a jaw type in shear. If the elastomeric (rubber) element requires replacement due to wear or damage, order a replacement element and perform the following steps:
1. Remove the protective grill from the adapter housing.
2. Loosen the retaining screw located on the outer sleeve. Slide the sleeve to one side, exposing the coupling element.
3. Unwrap the coupling element from the coupling jaws.
4. Install the new element by wrapping it around the jaws, engaging the cogs on the element into the jaws.
5. Reinstall the outer sleeve and secure by tightening the two screws to 45 in·lbs (5 Nm).
6. Reinstall the protective grill.;
