Ensure griddle by-pass flame has been adjusted

Verify cooking results indicate control is not maintaining temperatures

Use a test instrument with a DISC type thermocouple for surface temperature checking

Drop a couple of drops of oil on griddle surface plate and place thermocouple disc flat into the oil

Remove dial and push out metal insert

Replace dial, turn to 350 mark, and light burner

Clean around burner air mixers and orifices if lint has accumulated

Visually assure proper pilot operation

Check the condition of the vent system components

Is there any visible damage to the vent system components?

Clean the vent pipes thoroughly

Is the vent system free from obstructions after cleaning?

Remove normal dirt, grease, and product residue using soap and water with a sponge or cloth. Dry thoroughly.

Remove baked-on grease and food splatter using cleanser on a damp cloth, rubbing in the direction of the polishing lines.

Use SCOTCH-BRITE or STAINLESS scouring pads for stubborn soil and burnt deposits. Avoid ordinary steel wool.

Remove heat tint by scouring with SCOTCH-BRITE or STAINLESS scouring pads and powered cleanser.

Allow unit to cool and wash exterior with hot, mild detergent or soap solution. Dry thoroughly.

Clean around pilot areas, air mixer, and under burners if spillage occurs. Use a wire brush if necessary.

Loosen screw and rotate mixer cap until a clear, stable blue flame is obtained.

Is the flame free of yellow tips and not blowing off the burner ports?

Remove the front panel below the oven door to access the pilot line valve.

Adjust the standing oven pilot flame using the adjusting screw on the pilot line valve.

Is the pilot flame just large enough to maintain a glowing red color of the flame switch capillary bulb?

Adjust the primary air mixer cap to achieve a clear blue flame with a distinct inner cone at each port.
