Defibrillator Testing
Safety Precautions
Ensure paddles are used for the test
Avoid touching metal parts of the paddles during shock
Do not perform the test multiple times in a series to prevent overheating
Testing Procedure
Connect the paddles and set the energy to 90 joules
Hold the paddles together and trigger a shock into the device
Verification
Attach recorder printout with the message: DEFIBRILLATOR TEST – Date – OK.
Visual Unit Check
Inspect the device and electrodes for the following
Enter the expiration date on the electrode package
Post-inspection actions
Were any defective units or damaged cables found?
Replace defective units or damaged cables immediately
Casing Cleaning
Preparation
Switch the unit off
Remove the battery
Cleaning Instructions
Do not immerse the apparatus into a cleaning liquid or sterilise with hot water, steam, or air
Avoid using phenol-based agents or peroxide compounds for cleaning
Wipe the unit's casing with a tissue dampened in 70% alcohol
Ensure no liquid enters the unit

Set the high and then the low heart rate threshold below/above the measured values

Reset the alarm limits to their original values

NIBP Alarm Testing
Start the NIBP monitoring (see section 4.5.1, page 33)
