Enter the hour meter reading of the pallet truck

Is the pallet truck operational in the selected environment?

Describe any issues found during the check

Sign off on the pallet truck maintenance

Check the weight stamped on the battery in the pallet truck against the minimum and maximum allowable weights on the spec tag for the pallet truck.

Inspect all battery connectors and leads for damage and cuts in protective coatings.

Make sure the battery gates are in position and not damaged.

Measure the battery's free play in any direction.

During normal operation, with a rated load and traveling at top speed, the pallet truck should stop within approximately one and one-half truck lengths.

If oil is present, disassemble brake and clean the mating surface and pads.

Check brake gap, replace brake pad if the pad gap exceeds 0.015 in.

Turn the truck OFF and disconnect the battery connector.

Extended heavy duty operation check

Check for any issues due to sudden temperature changes

Sign off on the pallet jack maintenance

Enter the amount of gear oil in drive housing

Change hydraulic fluid in hydraulic reservoir

Push the spring clip toward the pump housing

Warning: This inspection requires trained personnel with PPE!

Commutator has surface condition and high mica

No carbon dust collected in the grooves between the segments

Commutation is indicated by a dark brown polished commutator and an evenly polished brush wearing surface

No signs of rough, pitted, burning or heavy arcing between the commutator bars

If any of the checks fail, remove the motor for service

Sign off on the DC Electric Motors Inspection
