1 Daily Flange Machine Cleaning
Clean the flange machine daily. Use these supplies:
Lint-free rags or shop towels
Small brush
Mild spray cleaner or soap and water
A vacuum cleaner
Compressed air
CAUTION: Do not exceed 30 psi (2 bars) when using compressed air for cleaning purposes.
Dirt and lint accumulation is the most common cause for a poorly operating machine. Lint build-up can destroy certain machine parts. It may be necessary to remove covers to access areas housing some components.
CAUTION: Do not service any of the pneumatic components until the unit is relieved of air pressure. Always wear a mask or turn your face away from the regulator when releasing air pressure. Oil, residue, and debris from the floor may spray with force into the air.
1 Monthly Pin Lubrication
CAUTION: Porter International is not responsible for complications that may result from lubricating the pins with oil other than Hi-Performance Lucas oil.
Lubricate all pins in the high-speed spring housing system using Hi-Performance Lucas® oil
IMPORTANT! The linkage lubricator regulator is factory set at 5 to 20 psi (.34 to 1.4 bars). Verify this setting each time you fill the linkage oil reservoir.
Verify the linkage lubricator regulator setting
The bearings at the base of the spring housing have two grease fittings. Use any multi-purpose grease periodically to keep these bearings lubricated.
Check the oil level in the linkage oil reservoir. This reservoir is located on the back of the pneumatic panel, between the table legs. Add oil when the oil level falls below the indicator line.
CAUTION: Do not use oil that contains additives. Additives can cause a reduction in the normal flow of oil, which in turn can result in damage to the machine.
Oiling the machine not only lubricates moving parts to prevent wear, it reduces the risk of rust. Rust forms rapidly with any dampness, especially in humid climates. Surface rust can act like loose sand granules in your machine, creating excess wear. To protect against rust, wipe all exposed parts with a soft, lint-free brush saturated with white needle oil.
Ensure the brush is damp with oil, not dripping. Then, wipe the machine with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to remove any excess oil.
6 Monthly Oil Filter Replacement
CAUTION: Replace the oil filter every six months. Clogging of the oil filter can cause insufficient lubrication to the sewing head. Failure of the sewing head components can result.
The oil jet in the oil sight window is restricted or weak
The oil contains foam or debris
The filter shows signs of wear
Follow the instructions under 'Draining the Sewing Head Oil'
Top cover of the sewing head removed
Three screws that secure the oil filter cover removed
Oil cap and the O-ring removed
Old filter replaced with the new one
6 Monthly Sewing Head Oil Lubrication
Warning: Ensure to follow the steps carefully to avoid any damage to the machine.
Is the container ready to collect the used oil?
Is the machine removed from its stand and set on a flat working surface?
Is the oil drain plug located on the lower left side of the machine removed?
Is the oil collected in the container?
After the oil is completely drained, is the plug secured?
Is the oil disposed of according to local or national regulations?
