Disconnect thermistor from control board

Measure resistance of the thermistor

Measure temperature at the thermistor

Resistance/Temperature Comparison

Compare measured resistance/temperature readings to resistance/temperature relationship chart

Is the resistance within 10% of the published resistance value?

Check that the water inlet valve completely stops water flow into the machine

Turn on the ice machine by pressing the Power button

Observe the water flow into the ice machine

Is the water flow into the ice machine proper?

If water flow is slow or trickles, refer to the water system checklist

Scroll down to Service and press right arrow

Scroll down to Diagnostics and press right arrow

Scroll down to Temp Sensors and press right arrow to display thermistor temperature readings

Is the thermistor reading -22°F (-30°C) indicating an open thermistor?

Is the thermistor reading 475°F (246°C) indicating a shorted thermistor?

Cycle ice machine with the on/off button

Run the system to see if the control trips at the rated pressure

Is the HPCO opening at a pressure significantly different from 450 psig?

If HPCO opens at the correct pressure, find the root cause

Leave all wiring connectors attached and perform testing within the 60 minute time delay period

Check for 24 volts at terminals V & C on the ice machine control board

Disconnect power to the ice machine

Follow all manufacturer’s instructions supplied with the pinch-off tool

Position the pinch-off tool around the tubing as far from the pressure control as feasible

Clamp down on the tubing until the pinch-off is complete

Cut the tubing of the defective component with a small tubing cutter

Solder the replacement component in place
