1 Monthly Boiler Relief Valve Check
Warning: Before operating any relief valve, ensure that it is piped with its discharge in a safe area to avoid severe scald potential
Warning: Safety relief valves should be re-inspected AT LEAST ONCE EVERY THREE YEARS, by a licensed plumbing contractor or authorized inspection agency
Warning: Following installation, the valve lever must be operated AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR to ensure that waterways are clear
Warning: Before operating lever, check to see that a discharge line is connected to this valve directing the flow of hot water from the valve to a proper place of disposal
Inspect the relief valve and lift the lever to verify flow
Check if the valve and discharge line have not been altered or tampered with illegally
Check if the valve or its components are corroded
Check if the valve is inoperative
Check if the relief valve weeps or will not seat properly
1 Daily Boiler Check
Boiler area is free of any combustible materials
Boiler area is free of gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids
Air intake area is free of any of the contaminants listed in Section 1 of this manual
If any of these are present in the boiler intake air vicinity, they must be removed. If they cannot be removed, reinstall the air and vent lines

Boiler Heat Exchanger Cleaning
WARNING! The boiler contains ceramic fiber materials. Use care when handling these materials per instructions in the FTXL Service Manual. Failure to comply could result in severe personal injury.
Follow the “To Turn Off Gas to Appliance” instructions for the boiler in Section 10 - Startup.
Do not drain the boiler unless it will be exposed to freezing temperatures. If using freeze prevention fluids in the system, do not drain.
Allow time for the boiler to cool to room temperature if it has been firing.
Remove the bezel from the unit.
Remove the screw securing the fan and venturi from the fan plate and set aside.
Remove the nuts securing the fan plate and burner from the heat exchanger plate and set aside.
Loosen the heat exchanger bolts to remove the heat exchanger top plate.
Disconnect the condensate hose from the condensate trap and route to drain.
Burner Flame Check
Inspect flame through observation window
If the flame is unsatisfactory at either high fire or low fire, turn off boiler and allow boiler to cool down.
Upload a photo of the burner before cleaning
Remove the burner and clean it thoroughly using a vacuum cleaner or compressed air. Do not use compressed air to clean burner if performed inside a building.

When replacing the burner, ensure gasket is in good condition and positioned correctly
Sign off on the burner flame check
Ignition Ground Wiring Check
Warning: This procedure should be performed by a trained technician
Inspect boiler ground wire from the heat exchanger access cover to ground terminal strip
Verify all wiring is in good condition and securely attached
Check ground continuity of wiring using continuity meter
Replace ground wires if ground continuity is not satisfactory
