Check the oil level on the JHPU Filler Cap/dipstick.

Top up with the correct grade oil if necessary.

Visually inspect the condition of the oil.

Is the oil discoloured, contaminated, or does it smell unusual?

Replace the oil if it is discoloured, contaminated, or smells unusual.

Centre the Steering so that the Jet Nozzle is in the Dead Ahead position.

Disconnect one of the wires from the sender terminal.

Measure the resistance across the Terminals.

Is the resistance at the dead ahead position within 88±2Ω?

Is the indicator showing dead ahead?

Verify installation of backup indicators

Ensure steering will not exceed VDO sender mechanical limits

Move steering to full starboard position

Move steering to full port position

Check that Sender mounting screws [A] are centrally positioned in their slots

Set Link Rod [X] and sender arm [Y] to nominal dimensions as per assembly drawing

Is there any leak at the sealing face or cover plate?

Replace the cover seal if leaking

Inspect for leaks at hose connections

Filler/Breather Removal and Cleaning

Remove the Filler/Breather from the JHPU Reservoir

Rinse the Filler/Breather in white spirits

Filler/Breather Inspection and Replacement

Does the Filler/Breather look damaged?

Replace the Filler/Breather if it looks damaged

Has the Filler/Breather been in use for 5000 operating hours or one year?

Replace the Filler/Breather if it has been in use for 5000 hours or one year
