Ensure mechanical seal is not secured to the shaft prior to impeller adjustment.
Verify that the shaft can move up or down within the seal assembly.
Adjustment Process
Turn the adjusting plate (613) to adjust the impeller.
Refer to the Outline Drawing for the specific unit and note the correct adjustment.

Inspection
Check bearing retainers for deformation and wear
Check shafts for straightness and excessive wear on bearing surfaces
Enter the average total run-out of the shafts (in inches TIR per foot)
Is the total run-out within the acceptable range?
Visually check impellers and bowls for cracks and pitting
Check all bowl bearings for excessive wear and corrosion
Impeller Wear Ring Removal
Wear Ring Removal Preparation
Cut two 'V' shaped grooves on the impeller wear ring approximately 180 degrees apart using a diamond point chisel
Wear Ring Removal
Knock the end of one half of the ring out with a chisel or drift
Pry the ring off
Special Materials Handling
