If pump has thrust pot, ensure thrust is installed before adjusting impeller position
Adjust impeller position using the adjust nut on the thrust pot
Temperature Considerations
Taperlock Construction Bowl Disassembly
Remove capscrews securing top bowl to intermediate bowl
Slide discharge bowl and top bowl off the pump shaft
Pull shaft out and strike impeller hub to drive the impeller off the taperlock
Insert a screwdriver into the slot in the taperlock and spread it open
Slide the taperlock and impeller off the pump shaft
Repeat the procedures until the bowl assembly is completely disassembled
Packing Replacement
Initial Inspection and Adjustment
Check leakage rate of the pump
Is the leakage rate exceeding two drops per second?
Stop the pump if there is no leakage or the stuffing box overheats
Allow packing to cool before restarting the pump
Safety Precautions
Reinstall the coupling guard before restarting the pump
Stuffing Box Adjustment
Tighten the gland nuts one-quarter turn with the pump in operation
Pump Maintenance
Cleaning

Clean driver ventilation passage to prevent overheating
Inspection and Tightening
Tighten all loose bolts
Check for excessive vibration
Leakage and Lubrication

Ensure gland nuts are not tightened unless necessary
Impeller Wear Ring Removal
Wear Ring Removal with Chisel
Cut two 'V' shaped grooves on the impeller wear ring approximately 180 degrees apart using a diamond point chisel.
Knock the end of one half of the ring out with a chisel or drift, and pry the ring off.
Wear Ring Removal on Special Materials
Set up the impeller in a lathe.
Machine the wear ring off using extreme care not to machine or damage the ring seat.
