Match mark bowl assembly in sequence of disassembly

Check that all the parts are in place

Determine impeller securing method

Verify that the impellers are secured to the shaft

Ensure all components are properly aligned and secured

Remove the driveshaft between the gear and the prime mover

Remove the electrical connections at the conduit box and tag the electrical leads

Uncouple driver (or gear box) from pump shaft and mounting flanges

Warning: Never try to lift entire pump assembly by the lifting lugs or eyebolts furnished for the driver only

Disconnect discharge head from the discharge piping

Remove all hold down bolts and external piping

Remove coupling, packing box and proceed with disassembly down to the bowls

Remove capscrews securing top bowl to intermediate bowl

Slide discharge bowl and top bowl off the pump shaft

Pull shaft out and strike impeller hub

Insert screwdriver into taperlock slot and spread it open

Slide taperlock and impeller off the pump shaft

Repeat procedures until bowl assembly is completely disassembled

Remove set screws or grind off tack weld

Verify locking methods used on rings

Cut two 'V' shaped grooves on the bowl wear ring approximately 180º apart using a diamond point chisel

Ensure no damage to the wear ring seat during groove cutting

Knock the end of one half of the ring in and pry the ring out using a chisel or drift

Set up the bowl in a lathe for chrome steel or special materials

Clean dirt, oil, and grease from driver and discharge head

Clean driver ventilation passage to prevent overheating

Check for some leakage through stuffing box while pump is in operation

Do not tighten gland nuts unless necessary
