30 Daily Air Hoist Load Chain Inspection
Chain Operation Inspection
Does the chain feed smoothly into and away from the sprocket in both directions?
Is the chain clean and properly lubricated?
Describe any issues observed with chain binding, jumping, or noise.
Chain and Mating Parts Inspection
Inspect chain and mating parts for wear, distortion, or other damage.
Describe any wear, distortion, or damage found on the chain or mating parts.
Anchor End and Connection Inspection
Check for damage to the following parts

Hook Inspection
Check for bent or distorted hook
Is the hook opened beyond the dimension given in Figure 5-3?
Lubricate hook swivel and pivot points if necessary
Replace hook if opened beyond specified dimensions
Sprocket and Bearings Inspection
Check sprocket and bearings in lower block for freedom of movement and signs of damage
Lubricate sprocket and bearings if necessary
Replace damaged sprocket or bearings
Air Hoist Pre-Operational Check
Inspect Chain Anchor Connections
Inspect chain anchor connections at side of hoist frame and at upper hook or lug mounting bracket

Is the hoist brake properly adjusted and operational?

Lubricate Chain
Air Hoist Adjustment
Initial Setup
Ensure hoist is in normal suspended position
Speed Adjustment
Identify the appropriate regulator screw for hoisting or lowering speed adjustment
Describe the current hoist speed settings
Turn the regulator screw slightly in either direction while operating hoist under load
Is the hoist speed adjusted to the desired level?
Safety Precautions
Ensure heads of adjusting screws do not extend beyond outer surface of housing
1 Monthly Air Hoist Roller Chain Lubrication
Preparation
Set up a regular schedule for chain lubrication based on operating conditions.
Gather necessary lubricants: Bar and chain Oil (LUBRIPLATE or equal) and S.A.E. 20 motor oil.
Chain Cleaning and Lubrication
Clean the chain thoroughly with an oil solvent.
Apply a good grade of S.A.E. 20 motor oil to the chain.
Wipe off excess oil from the chain.
