Touch Thermal Cycler Cleaning
Warning: Always turn off and unplug the instrument before cleaning it.
Warning: Do not use abrasive detergents or rough material; they can scratch the control panel.
Warning: Never use cleaning solutions that are corrosive to aluminium.
Warning: Never pour water or other solutions in the reaction module bay. Wet components can cause electrical shock when the thermal cycler is plugged in.
Clean the air vents. Remove dust with a soft brush, damp cloth, or vacuum cleaner.
Remove any heavy dust that is deep in the vents with a vacuum cleaner.
Clean the touchscreen with any commercially available touchscreen cleaning agent. Use a soft cloth to clean the touchscreen.
Clean the reaction module bay. Clean with a damp soft cloth to remove debris and spilled liquids.
Clean the outside case of the thermal cycler base. Use a damp cloth or tissue to clean spills off the outside case.
Reaction Module Cleaning
WARNING! To prevent electrical shock, always remove the reaction module from the thermal cycler base before cleaning it.

Clean the cooling fins.
Dust removed from the cooling fins with a soft brush or damp cloth?
Heavy dust removed from the fins with a vacuum cleaner?
Debris removed from the fins with water and a soft cloth?
Never use cleaning solutions that are corrosive to aluminum, such as bleach or abrasive cleansers.
Cleaning solutions used are not corrosive to aluminum?
Clean the outside cover of the reaction block.
Fuse Replacement
Warning: To prevent electrical shock, always turn off and unplug the instrument from an electrical outlet before checking the fuses.
Is the power cord plugged in to a functioning power source?
Is the power cord and power source within the specifications for this instrument?
If the thermal cycler does not turn on, contact Bio-Rad Technical Support.
Are the fuses intact?
The C1000 Touch thermal cycler runs with two fuses.
Use a small coin to open the fuse drawer.
Pull out the fuse drawer and remove each fuse.
Is the fuse damaged?
Sufficient Airflow Test
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel!
Is the instrument set up in the location where it is going to be used?
Is the local environment adjusted for typical conditions?
Is any nearby equipment, such as fans, turned on?
Are any window blinds open to reproduce typical conditions during a run?
If more than one thermal cycler is in the area, is a protocol running on all the thermal cyclers at the same time?
Is a typical PCR protocol running for 30 min?
Are samples not required; however, is an empty microplate or tubes included?
