Rheometer Cleaning
Ensure the instrument is in a clean, dry working environment (dust free, moderate temperature, low humidity, etc.)
Is the instrument on a level surface?
Ensure hands/fingers are clean and free of sample residue.
Are hands/fingers clean and free of sample residue?
Remove the spindle from the instrument prior to cleaning. Note left-handed thread.
Is the spindle removed from the instrument?
Do not apply excessive force when cleaning, which may result in bending spindles.
Was excessive force avoided during cleaning?
Instrument and Display: Clean with a dry, non-abrasive cloth. Do not use solvents or cleaners.
1 Yearly Viscosity Standard Fluid Replacement
AMETEK Brookfield Viscosity Standard Fluid general information
Date of last fluid replacement
Check for contamination in the fluid
If contamination is found, proceed with fluid replacement
Enter the volume of fluid used in mL
Upload a photo of the fluid bottle
Enter any observations during the procedure
Sign off on the fluid replacement
Rheometer Calibration
Calibration Procedure for LV #1-3 (#61-63) and RV, HA, HB #1-6 AMETEK Brookfield SPINDLES
Viscosity standard fluid placed in the proper container
DVNext lowered into measurement position
Spindle attached to the Rheometer
Viscosity standard fluid and spindle immersed in bath for minimum of 1 hour
Temperature of the viscosity standard fluid
Viscosity reading equals the cP value on the fluid standard
Calibration Procedure for a Small Sample Adapter
Proper amount of viscosity standard fluid in the sample chamber
Oscillation Check
Warning: This check requires trained personnel. Do not disturb the DV Rheometer during the performance of the oscillation check.
Spindle removed?
AutoZero performed?
Oscillation test started?
Wait for approximately 3 minutes for the oscillation check to complete.
Enter the final value of %Torque
Is the final value of %Torque within +/-0.3 of 0.0?
If the value is above 0.3 % or below -0.3%, a calibration check should be performed.
Sign off on the oscillation check
Rheometer Leveling
Warning: Only trained personnel should perform this procedure.
Is the DVNext powered up?
Is the centering dot red?
If the centering dot is red, adjust the leveling screws on the base.
Is the centering dot yellow?
If the centering dot is yellow, continue adjusting until it turns green.
Is the centering dot green?
If the centering dot is green, the DVNext is level and ready to operate.
The device will now move onto the autozero function.
