Ensure all gas supply lines have been purged of air before turning on the electrical power switch.

Turn the gas valve to the on position.

Turn the main electrical power on and set the controls to the heating mode of operation.

Check all gas piping connections for leaks before operation and startup.

Ensure no flame is detected in 10 seconds, the ignition system will recycle.

If no flame is detected after 3 tries, ensure the ignition system locks out.

Ensure pressure washer or compressed air is set to low pressure to prevent fin and/or coil damages.

Confirm no harsh chemicals, household bleach, or acid cleaners are used.

Select the approved coil cleaner used

Clean the coil with the selected approved coil cleaner following the manufacturer's directions.

Use the approved chloride remover to remove soluble salts and revitalize the unit.

Is the coil free from mold, mildew, dust, soot, greasy residue, lint, and other particulate?

Ensure the power to the unit is off and locked out

Clean the area around the unit to remove leaves, grass, or loose debris

Remove any grease or oil film with GulfClean™ Coil Cleaner

Application of GulfClean™ Coil Cleaner

Apply GulfClean™ Coil Cleaner to the interior air exiting side coil surfaces

Work in sections/panels moving side to side and from top to bottom

Allow the cleaning solution to soak for 5 to 10 minutes

Obtain access to the pulley side bearing access plate if bearing access plates are provided.

Remove two bearing access plate retaining screws and the access plate.

Loosen set screw in bearing locking collar using hexagonal wrench.

Tap collar in the direction of wheel rotation to unlock collar using light hammer and drift.

Remove two nuts securing bearing housing to the bearing support beam using socket wrench with extension.

Was the bearing removable by hand?

Gain access to the energy recovery wheel

Brush foreign material from the face of the wheel

Prepare a 5% solution of non-acid based coil cleaner or alkaline detergent with warm water

Wash the segments or small wheels in the prepared solution

Ensure solution temperature does not exceed 76.7°C (170°F)

Soak segments in the solution until grease and tar deposits are loosened
