1 Yearly Gas Heating Maintenance
Pre-Operation Inspection
Inspect all flue product carrying areas of the furnace and main burners for continued safe operation.
Check the gas pipe in the unit for leaks before operation and startup.
Ensure all gas supply lines have been purged of air before turning on the electrical power switch.
Startup Procedure
Turn the gas valve to the on position.
Turn the main electrical power on and set the controls to the heating mode of operation.
Did the combustion ventilation motor enable?
Did the control automatically supply energy to the igniter and the gas valve after the heating call was made?
Belt Segments Replacement
Segment Removal
Unclip the belt using pliers.
Grab the protruding tongue of the segment to remove and twist it to release the segment from the chain.
Disconnect the belt in that place.
Remove the necessary amount of segments to increase the belt tension.
Segment Connection
Connect the shortened belt ends by inserting the protruding tongue through the hole of the other half of the belt.
Grab the second tongue and insert it through the second hole using pliers, then twist it back to the starting position.

Preparation
Gain access to the energy recovery wheel
Remove segments from the wheel
Cleaning Process
Brush foreign material from the face of the wheel
Prepare a 5% solution of non-acid based coil cleaner or alkaline detergent with warm water
Wash the segments or small wheels in the prepared solution
Ensure solution temperature does not exceed 76.7°C (170°F)
Soak segments until grease and tar deposits are loosened
Aluminum Wheel Cleaning
Preparation
Gain access to the aluminum energy recovery wheel
Cleaning Methods
Remove small foreign materials using one of the following methods
Use compressed air at a distance of at least 0.08 m (2 ft) from the wheel
Remove the energy recovery wheel from the unit before using water
Use water at a distance of at least 0.08 m (2 ft) from the wheel
Ensure no detergents are used
Ensure temperature is below 25°C (77°F)
Heating Coils Inspection
Pre-Inspection Safety Check
Ensure all safety requirements are in accordance with national and local codes.
Verify proper sealing of the water piping entries into the unit.
Temperature and Solution Check
Record the entering air temperature.
Is the air temperature above 3.3°C (38°F)?
If air temperature is below 3.3°C (38°F), is a glycol solution being used?
Post-Inspection Review
Describe any issues found during the inspection.
