Valve Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect air compressor valves for leakage

Inspect air compressor valves for carbon build-up

Remove the battery cables from the terminals and tie the cables together

Drain the engine oil and remove the old oil filter

Write the current engine hour meter value on the new filter

Refer to the engine manufacturer’s manual for the correct oil and quantity

Disconnect the oil return pipe from the base of the air compressor

Check the trailer, tires, and wheels for any damage

If the wheel is damaged, check the brake drum and axles for damage

Check and tighten wheel nuts or bolts as necessary

Check the connection to towing vehicle

Check the coupling for excessive movement by moving the towing eye or ball by hand

Check the operation and effectiveness of the handbrake

Check the engine oil level on the measuring stick

Is the engine oil level sufficient?

Replenish with the correct engine oil if the level is low

Check for the presence of water or contamination in the diesel fuel

Drain and clean the fuel tank if water or contamination is detected

Refill with the correct grade of oil

Check for any oil leaks after refilling

Describe any issues encountered during maintenance
