Motor Lubrication
Warning: Proper lubrication plays a vital role in motor performance. Only use the grease or oil types, amounts and lubrication intervals recommended for the bearings.
Type of lubricant used (oil or grease)
Operating temperature of the motor
Compliance with grease and oil disposal laws
Excess grease causes bearing overheating, resulting in bearing failure.
Absolute temperature on the bearing
Type of grease used
For each increment of 15 °C above the room temperature, the relubrication intervals given in the Table must be halved.

Motor Maintenance
Warning: All repair services on motors for use in hazardous areas must be performed by qualified personnel and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Always use proper tools and devices for motor disassembly and assembly.
Disassembly and assembly services may only be carried out after the motor has been disconnected from the power supply and is completely stopped.
Dangerous voltages may be present at the motor terminals inside the terminal box since capacitors can retain electrical charge even when not connected to a power source.
Dangerous voltages may be present when space heaters are connected to the motor or when motor windings are used as space heaters.
Dangerous voltages may be present at the motor terminals when driven by a frequency inverter even when the motor is completely stopped.
For enclosure-protected motors, open the terminal box and/or disassemble the motor only after the enclosure surface has cooled to ambient temperature.
Record installation conditions such as terminal connection diagram and alignment or leveling conditions before starting disassembly.
Use these records for later assembly.
Insulation Resistance Measurement
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
The machine must be in a cold state and disconnected from the power supply.
The insulation resistance must be measured in a safe environment.
Is the machine in a cold state and disconnected from the power supply?
Is the environment safe for insulation resistance measurement?
It is recommended to insulate and test each phase separately.
Is each phase insulated and tested separately?
During the test of one phase, the other phases must be grounded.
Are the other phases grounded during the test of one phase?
Motor Inspection
Visual inspection of the motor and coupling
Check for abnormal noises, vibrations, excessive heating, wear signs, misalignment or damaged parts
List of damaged parts to be replaced
Insulation resistance measurement
Motor enclosure cleaned
Oil spills and dust accumulation removed from the motor frame surface
Motors with potential risk for electrostatic charge accumulation cleaned with a damp cloth
Cooling fan condition checked and air inlet & outlet openings cleaned
Condition of the seals checked and replaced if required
Stator Winding Insulation Drying
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
Motor dismantled completely
End shields, rotor with shaft, fan cover, fan and terminal box removed
Wound stator with frame transferred to oven
Enter the oven temperature
Stator placed in oven for two hours
Is the motor larger? If yes, extend drying time
Stator cooled to room temperature after drying
Enter the measured insulation resistance
