12-Volt Battery Maintenance
Location
The 12-volt battery is located in the lefthand side of the luggage compartment.
Removing the 12-volt battery cover
1 Slide the third seats to the frontmost position. 2 Remove the left-hand side of the luggage trim cover.
INFORMATION
■ Before recharging
When recharging, the 12-volt battery produces hydrogen gas which is flammable and explosive. Therefore, observe the following precautions before recharging:
● If recharging with the 12-volt battery installed on the vehicle, be sure to disconnect the ground cable.
● Make sure the power switch on the charger is off when connecting and disconnecting the charger cables to the 12-volt battery.
Vehicle Maintenance
WARNING: If the hybrid system is operating, turn it off and ensure that there is adequate ventilation before performing maintenance checks.
Is the brake fluid at the correct level?
Is the engine/intercooler/power control unit coolant at the correct level?
Is the engine oil at the correct level?
There should not be any fumes or strange sounds.
The radiator, condenser and intercooler should be free from foreign objects.
Is there sufficient washer fluid?
Check the connections.
The accelerator pedal should move smoothly (without uneven pedal effort or catching).
Tires Maintenance
Tires
Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance schedules and treadwear.
Checking tires
Check if the treadwear indicators are showing on the tires. Also check the tires for uneven wear, such as excessive wear on one side of the tread.
Check the spare tire condition and pressure if not rotated.

■ When to replace your vehicle’s tires
Tires should be replaced if:
● The treadwear indicators are showing on a tire.
Engine Oil Adding
Checking the oil type and preparing the items needed
Engine oil selection
Oil quantity (Low level mark → Refill upper limit mark)
Clean funnel available
Adding engine oil
Oil level is below or near the low level mark
Remove the oil filler cap by turning it counterclockwise
Add engine oil slowly, checking the dipstick
Oil level does not exceed the refill upper limit mark and is between the low level mark and refill upper limit mark
Vehicle Exterior Cleaning
Cleaning and protecting the vehicle exterior
Perform cleaning in a manner appropriate to each component and its material.
Cleaning instructions
● Working from top to bottom, liberally apply water to the vehicle body, wheel wells and underside of the vehicle to remove any dirt and dust.
● Wash the vehicle body using a sponge or soft cloth, such as a chamois.
● For hard-to-remove marks, use car wash soap and rinse thoroughly with water.
● Wipe away any water.
● Wax the vehicle when the waterproof coating deteriorates.
If water does not bead on a clean surface, apply wax when the vehicle body is cool.
