3000 Hourly Brake Inspection
8.1 Inspection and maintenance intervals
Ensure the following safety precautions are taken
Inspect the following brake components
BMG02 Brake Inspection (Sec. 8.4)
Isolate the motor and brake from the supply
Unscrew the hand lever, remove the fan guard and the fan
Loosen screws and remove the complete brake with the releasing lever
Measure the thickness 'd' of the brake disk
Is the brake disk thickness above the minimum value?
Backstop Blocking Direction Adjustment
Altering the blocking direction on motors with a backstop
Note the direction of rotation and number of stages
Operate the backstop at half motor voltage for checking purposes
Isolate the motor from the supply
Remove fan guard and fan, unscrew hexagon socket head cap screws
Remove the V-ring and sealing flange with felt ring
Remove the circlip; for DV132M-160M, also remove the equalizing rings
Pull the carrier and wedge element train completely off, turn them by 180° and press them back on
Refill the grease
2 Yearly Brake Inspection

Use only genuine spare parts in accordance with the valid parts list
Install a new brake control system when replacing the brake coil
Ensure motors are not hot to avoid burns
Secure hoist drives or lower them to prevent falling
Isolate the motor and brake from the supply to prevent unintentional power-up

Document the calculated inspection/maintenance intervals based on project planning documents

Isolate the motor and brake from the supply before starting work, safeguarding them against unintentional power-up
Inspect the motor
8.3 Inspection / maintenance on the motor
Remove the forced cooling fan and encoder, if installed
Remove flange or fan guard, fan
Remove the hex head bolt from the drive end bearing end shield and the non-drive end bearing end shield, release the stator from the drive end bearing end shield
For motors with BM/BMG brake: open the terminal box cover, unfasten the brake cable from the rectifier; push the non-drive end bearing end shield and the brake off the stator and carefully lift them off
For motors with BMG02, BR03 brake: remove the complete brake with the releasing lever
Braking Torque Adjustment
Changing the braking torque for BR03 brake
Isolate the motor and brake from the supply, safeguarding them against unintentional power-up
Unscrew the hand lever, remove the fan guard and the fan
Loosen the screws and remove the complete brake with the releasing lever
Loosen the screws and remove the guide ring with friction plate, brake disc, pressure plate and damping plate
Remove the brake springs from the brake coil body and replace them with new ones
Position the new brake springs symmetrically
Slide the damping plate over the two studs attached to the pressure plate so the embossing pattern is located with the projecting side facing the pressure plate
Place the pressure plate on the brake springs together with the damping plate; guide the studs attached to the pressure plate through the holes in the brake coil body and ensure correct positioning
