Is an approved cleaner available?

Contact details of local pool chemical supplier or retail store

Mix a solution following the manufacturer's instructions on the label

Backwash the filter as outlined on page 8

Is the filter below pool level?

Shut off the pump and close appropriate valving to prevent draining the pool

Wash the exterior of the filter with mild detergent and water

Ensure no solvents are used during cleaning

Remove sand drain from the bottom of the filter

Flush the filter with a garden hose

Use Pentair Water Pool and Spa® Sand Vacuum P/N 542090 if necessary

Enter the current flow rate (GPM)

Enter the original flow rate (GPM)

Has the flow decreased by 30% from the original flow rate?

Enter the current filter gauge reading (PSI)

Enter the initial filter gauge reading (PSI)

Has the filter gauge reading increased by 10 PSI over the initial reading?

Identify the method used to determine the need for backwashing

Stand clear of the filter and start pump

Backwash filter duration (minutes)

Backwash the filter to protect pool equipment from freezing temperatures

Valve Adjustment and Air Bleeding

Open the manual air bleeder on the closure

Leave the drain plug out to allow slow drainage
