Melter Maintenance
Purging with Cleaning Agent:
Place a container of cleaning agent in the bulk melter to purge. Then feed the cleaning agent until it comes out free of material residue.
CAUTION: Use only a cleaning agent recommended by the hot melt material manufacturer. Observe the Material Safety Data Sheet for the cleaning agent.
Before starting production again, flush out residue of the cleaning agent using the new material.
NOTE: Properly dispose of cleaning agent according to local regulations.;
Melting Plate and Sealing Ring Replacement
WARNING: Hot! Risk of burns. Wear heat-protective gloves.
Enter the temperature of the platen
Is the material softened?
Is the resting surface clean, hard, and heat-resistant?
Are all of the fixing screws released?
Enter the raised height of the platen
Is the bulk melter shut down?
Is the temperature sensor carefully extracted from the bore?
Are the O-rings replaced?
Initial Melter Maintenance
Warning: This maintenance check requires trained personnel with PPE!
Re-tighten the following components with a torque wrench while the material is still soft (approx. 70 ° C/158 ° F, depending on the material)
Plug, A tightened
Hose Fitting, A tightened
Re-tighten the following components crosswise
Pump: Fixing screws, A tightened
Pump: Fixing screws, B tightened
Safety valve, A tightened
Sign off on the initial melter maintenance
1 Monthly Melter Maintenance
Warning: This maintenance check requires trained personnel with PPE!
Re-tighten the following components with a torque wrench while the material is still soft (approx. 70 ° C/158 ° F, depending on the material)

Re-tighten the following components with a torque wrench crosswise
Pump: Fixing screws, A, B

Sign off on the melter maintenance
Temperature Sensor Replacement
WARNING: Hot! Risk of burns. Wear heat-protective gloves.
WARNING: Risk of electrical shock. Failure to observe may result in personal injury, death, or equipment damage.
1. Disconnect the bulk melter from the line voltage.
2. Remove the cover (1).

1. Apply heat transfer compound (Refer to page 8-2, Processing Materials) to the new thermostat and replace.
Temperature sensor (3)
1. Carefully pull the temperature sensor out of the melting plate by the connecting cable. If it cannot be pulled out easily, the melting plate must be removed. Refer to page 10-5, Replacing Melting Plate.
