2000 Hourly Hydraulic Excavator Maintenance
WARNING: Read the precautions in 'CAUTIONS FOR OPENING (TILTING) FLOOR (PAGE 2-34)' and 'METHOD OF OPENING (TILTING) FLOOR (PAGE 3-23)' before starting the operation.
WARNING: Wait for the temperature to go down before starting the operation after the engine is stopped.
WARNING: Turn the oil filler cap slowly to release the internal pressure before removing it.
WARNING: Container to catch drained oil: min. 16 liters (4.22 US gal) capacity. Refill capacity: 15.2 liters (4.02 US gal).
Prepare a handle (for the socket wrench).
Swing the upper structure so that the drain plug under the hydraulic tank will be between both tracks.
Retract the arm and bucket cylinders, then lower the boom and put the teeth in contact with the ground.
Lower the blade to the ground.
Set the lock lever to the LOCK position (L) and stop the engine.
When Required Hydraulic Excavator Maintenance
CHECK, CLEAN AND REPLACE AIR CLEANER ELEMENT
WARNING:
If inspection, cleaning, or maintenance is carried out with the engine running, dirt will get into the engine and damage it. Always stop the engine before carrying out these operations.
When using compressed air, there is danger that dirt may be blown around and cause serious injury. Always use protective glasses, dust mask, and other protective equipment.
Checking:
1. Open the engine rear cover. (For details, see "ENGINE REAR COVER (PAGE 3-20)".)
2. If the dust indicator (1) shows red, clean the air cleaner element.
NOTICE:
Do not clean the air cleaner element before the red piston in dust indicator (1) appears.

CHANGE OIL IN FINAL DRIVE CASE
WARNING
The parts and oil are at high temperature immediately after the engine is stopped, and may cause serious burns. Wait for the temperature to go down before starting the operation.
If there is still pressure remaining inside the case, the oil or plug may fly out.
Loosen the plug slowly to release the pressure.
Prepare a container to catch drained oil.
Prepare a hexagon wrench.
1. Set so that drain plug (P) is at the bottom.
2. Set the container under plug (P) to catch the oil.
