9.4 Cleaning / Replacing Valve Plates and Pump Diaphragm

WARNING: Danger from hazardous materials

Replace pump diaphragm if necessary

Operate the pump in a collecting pan

Flush pump thoroughly after use or if not used for an extended period

Check the discharge outlet regularly for leaks

Observe the service life of the diaphragm and other elastomer parts

Diaphragm Replacement Procedure

Refer to Section 9.4 for Pump Head Cleaning and Valve Plate Replacement

9.5 Checking that pump is leak-tight

Ensure parts in contact with fluid are designed for operating pressure

Set up the system as shown in Fig. 27

Use distilled water as a test medium

Set pressure control valve to working pressure

Ensure fitting is leak-tight (see Section 6.2.2)

Operate pump carefully for 5 minutes

Are there any traces of medium visible on the head?

Ensure pump is free of any crystallising, adhesive or curing media

Flush pump with a suitable neutralising liquid in a circular flow for 10 minutes

Flush with distilled water for 5 minutes

Flush pump with a suitable neutralising liquid in a circular flow for 10 minutes

Flush with distilled water for 5 minutes

Place the pump in a suitable collecting vessel

Check the discharge outlet regularly for leaks

Ensure the discharge outlet is never closed

If medium escapes from the pump's discharge outlet, stop using the pump and contact your KNF dealer

If the pump diaphragm ruptures, the transferred medium is channelled out of the pump through the discharge outlet
