9.5 Checking that pump is leak-tight

Warning: Danger of fluid system bursting due to overpressure

Ensure parts in contact with fluid are designed for operating pressure

Avoid transferring media against shut-off elements or closed systems

Install pressure relief/safety valve and set to 6 bar

Perform a leak test to ensure correct assembly and reliability

Set up the system as shown in Fig. 27

Use distilled water as a test medium

Set pressure control valve to working pressure

Check tightening torque of head screws

Is the pump in perfect working order?

Is the pump operated in accordance with the technical data?

Check the discharge outlet for leaks

9.4 Cleaning / replacing valve plates and pump diaphragm

Ensure cleanliness during maintenance

Check that pump and system are leak-tight after maintenance

Requirements before maintenance

Ensure pump is free of crystallising, adhesive or curing media

Flush pump with a suitable neutralising liquid in a circular flow

Flush pump with a suitable neutralising liquid in a circular flow

Replace pump diaphragm if the pumping capacity decreases or a leak occurs

Replace pump diaphragm in the event of repeated head installation

Operate the pump in a collecting pan

Flush pump thoroughly after use or if it is not to be used for an extended period

Check the discharge outlet regularly for leaks

Observe the service life of the diaphragm and other elastomer parts

Diaphragm Replacement Procedure
