Disconnect and secure all electrical power to the fan to the 'off' position
Fasteners and Setscrews Inspection
Check all fasteners and setscrews for tightness
Verify the wheel rotates freely and is aligned
Wheel Position Adjustment
Was wheel movement detected during shipment?
Adjust wheel and inlet cone overlap by loosening setscrews and moving the wheel to the desired position
Fan RPM Verification
Motor Amperage and Voltage Check
Pre-Check Instructions
Ensure motor amperage and voltage ratings are checked for compatibility to supply voltage.
Route electrical supply through the conduit chase between the mounting plate and the bottom of the motor compartment.
Ensure wiring conforms to local and national codes.
Handling Precautions
Confirm that the fan is not lifted by the fan hood.
Ensure fans are not lifted in a way that bends or distorts fan parts.
Verify that slings or timbers are not passed through the venturi of the fan.
Check that fans with special coatings or paints are protected during handling to prevent damage.
Motor Cleaning
Safety Precautions
Disconnect all electrical power to the fan and secure to the 'off' position.
Ensure the unit is made non-functional by removing fuses and locking off the disconnect.
Cleaning Procedure
Limit cleaning to exterior surfaces only.
Remove dust buildup on motor housing to ensure proper motor cooling.
Ensure cleaning is even to prevent out of balance condition and vibration in the fan.
Personnel Requirements
Are the personnel qualified and familiar with local codes and regulations?
