Electronic Air Cleaner Inspection

Inspect the accessibility of the electronic air cleaner for periodic inspection and cleaning.

Check the pre-filters for cleanliness and clean if necessary.

Inspect the electronic cells for cleanliness and clean if necessary.

Ensure the media air cleaner is accessible for periodic inspection and replacement of the filter cartridge.

Connect a manometer to the outlet tap at the gas valve before adjusting the pressure regulator.

Ensure the final manifold pressure does not vary more than plus or minus 3 inches water column from the specified values for each gas type.

Adjusting the Pressure Regulator

Turn down (clockwise) to increase pressure and input.

Turn out (counterclockwise) to decrease pressure and input.

Propane Gas Specific Instructions

Ensure no unit gas valve regulator is used with propane gas.

Adjust the second stage supply line pressure regulator to give 10" water column with all other gas consuming appliances running.

Inspect flue pipe system for blockage and/or leakage.

Inspect outside termination and connections of flue pipe system.

Inspect combustion air intake pipe system for blockage and/or leakage.

Inspect outside termination and connection of combustion air intake pipe system.

Inspect heat exchanger for corrosion and/or buildup.

Disconnect all power before servicing, removing the filter or performing any other maintenance.

Filter Maintenance Responsibility

Media Air Filter or Electronic Air Cleaner Removal

Follow the manufacturer’s directions for service

Upright Counterflow Filter Removal

Turn off electrical power to furnace.

Remove access door in ductwork above furnace.

Ensure all other gas appliances are turned off

Wait for at least fifteen minutes after the heating cycle has started

Clock the gas meter to determine the time for one complete revolution of the cubic foot dial

Enter the time recorded for one complete revolution (in seconds)

Enter the calorific value of the gas (BTU per cubic foot)

Calculate the cubic feet of gas consumed per hour
