Inspect coils and drain pans for cleanliness and biological growth

Check for any signs of biological growth on coils and drain pans

Clean the external surface of finned coils using a low pressure water spray and a brush

Are cleaning additives or solutions compatible with coil materials or coatings?

Use a fin comb to straighten any damaged or bent fins

Is the area safe for inspection and cleaning?

Ensure no moisture carry over from dirty coils

Remove grease drain plugs from the motor

Operate the motor for 15 minutes before replacing plugs

Recommended Motor Lubrication Intervals

Note any severe conditions affecting lubrication frequency

Ensure no over-greasing has occurred

Disconnect power before servicing

Ensure all interlock and safety switches are engaged

Check for signs of potential problems

Is sufficient airflow passing through the heater as marked on the unit rating plate?

Are there any areas of the coil elements glowing bright red when viewed in the dark with the unit operating?

Reconnect power after servicing

Ensure surfaces are completely dry

Use a nylon brush to remove any loose scale

Roughen up areas to be repaired with a wire brush

Vacuum fins or the affected area to ensure any loose residue is gone

Spray or brush Heresite® S-440 solvent (or equivalent cleaner) to dissolve any oils or grease

Allow one hour for the solvent to dissolve completely

Measure the pressure drop across the filter

Is the pressure drop within acceptable limits?

Remove filters from units with high levels of outside air during winter months

Inspect filters for excessive dirt or plugging

Replace filters with same size and type

Were all local, regional, and national safety and disposal regulations followed?
