Is the unit warm for better drainage?

Examine the magnetic drain plug for metal chips and fines

Describe the amount of metal fines found

Consult Dorris Company if metal fines are excessive

Flush the inside of the unit with clean oil

Remove and clean the breather plug

CAUTION: All Dorris gear drives are shipped without oil.

Ensure the gear drive is properly lubricated before start-up.

Select the proper type and grade of oil based on ambient air temperature range

Is the coolest ambient temperature at least 10°F greater than the pour point of the chosen oil?

Is the lubrication approved for food processing industry applications?

Determine the oil capacity based on the mounting position, reduction ratio, and output speed.

Fill the gear drive with oil to the proper level as per instructions.

Consult Dorris for proper oil selection if ambient temperature is greater than 100°F or for special mounting arrangements.
