Dorris Company Gear Drive 307

CAUTION: All Dorris gear drives are shipped without oil.

Ensure the gear drive is properly lubricated before start-up.

Select the proper type and grade of oil based on ambient air temperature range

Is the chosen oil's pour point at least 10°F lower than the coolest ambient temperature?

Is the lubrication approved for food processing applications?

Consult Dorris for proper oil selection if ambient temperature is greater than 100°F.

Consult Dorris for oil capacity if gear drive speed is less than 40 rpm or for other special arrangements.

Fill the gear drive with oil to the proper level as per instructions.

Drain the oil when the unit is warm for better drainage.

Remove and examine the magnetic drain plug for metal chips and fines.

Is there an excessive amount of metal fines?

Consult the Dorris Company if the amount of metal fines is excessive.

Thoroughly flush the inside of the unit with clean oil after draining.

Remove and clean the breather plug to ensure the air passage is clear.

Reinstall the drain plug and breather plug using a thread sealant.
