CAUTION: All Dorris gear drives are shipped without oil.

Ensure the gear drive is properly lubricated before start-up.

Select the proper type and grade of oil based on ambient air temperature range

Is the coolest ambient temperature at least 10°F greater than the pour point of the chosen oil?

Is the lubrication approved for food processing industry applications?

Ensure the oil does not contain EP additives if the gear drive has an optional backstop installed.

Enter the oil capacity based on the mounting position, double reduction ratio, and output speed.

Is the output speed of the gear drive 40 rpm or more?

Drain the oil when the unit is warm for better drainage.

Remove and examine the magnetic drain plug for metal chips and fines.

Is there an excessive amount of metal fines?

Consult the Dorris Company if the amount of metal fines is excessive.

Thoroughly flush the inside of the unit with clean oil after draining.

Remove and clean the breather plug to ensure the air passage is clear.

Reinstall the drain plug and breather plug using a thread sealant.
