Operation Test
If the voltage, capacitor, overload and motor winding test fail to show the cause for failure:
WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE!
Disconnect ALL power before servicing or installing. Multiple power sources may be present. Failure to do so may cause property damage, personal injury or death.
1. Remove unit wiring from disconnect switch and wire a test cord to the disconnect switch.
NOTE: The wire size of the test cord must equal the line wire size and the fuse must be of the proper size and type.
2. With the protective terminal cover in place, use the three leads to the compressor terminals that were disconnected at the nearest point to the compressor and connect the common, start and run clips to the respective leads.
3. Connect good capacitors of the right MFD and voltage rating into the circuit as shown.
4. With power ON, close the switch.
WARNING: Line Voltage now present.
Heater Element Check
WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect ALL power before servicing or installing. Multiple power sources may be present. Failure to do so may cause property damage, personal injury or death.
Heater quantity matches the spec sheet
Disassemble and remove the heating element(s)
Visual inspection of the heater assembly for any breaks in the wire or broken insulators
Ohmmeter reading of the element
Element continuity check
Replacement of the element necessary

High Efficiency Motor Check
Voltage reading at motor connections L and N
Is 230 volts present at motor connections L and N?
Voltage reading from terminal C to either terminal 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5
Is 24 volts present from terminal C to either terminal 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5?
Motor has failed and needs to be replaced?
Note: When replacing motor, ensure the belly band is between the vents on the motor and the wiring has the proper drip loop to prevent condensate from entering the motor.

Wiring Check
WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect ALL power before servicing or installing. Multiple power sources may be present. Failure to do so may cause property damage, personal injury or death.
Check wiring visually for signs of overheating, damaged insulation and loose connections.
Use an ohmmeter to check continuity of any suspected open wires.
If any wires must be replaced, replace with comparable gauge and insulation thickness.

Psc Fan Motor Relay Contact Check
WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect ALL power before servicing or installing. Multiple power sources may be present. Failure to do so may cause property damage, personal injury or death.
Motor leads disconnected from 6-circuit fan motor wire harness
Connect a voltmeter between circuit 6 and circuits 3 (low speed) or 1 (high speed). NOTE: Circuit 6 is connected directly to 24VAC.
System energized at low or high stage
WARNING: Line Voltage now present.
Measured voltage between circuit 6 and circuits 3 or 1
Relay contacts are closed (0VAC)
NOTE: Ensure any ON delays have expired before making voltage measurements
CAUTION: Prolonged operation with the condenser fan motor disconnected will cause the high pressure switch to trip.
