Expansion Valve Operation Check
Warning: This procedure should be performed by trained personnel only.
Remote bulb of the expansion valve removed from the suction line
System started and bulb cooled in a container of ice water, closing the valve
Suction pressure after cooling the bulb
Suction temperature after cooling the bulb
Bulb warmed in hand
Suction pressure after warming the bulb
Suction temperature after warming the bulb

Resistance Test
WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect ALL power before servicing or installing. Multiple power sources may be present. Failure to do so may cause property damage, personal injury or death.
Remove the leads from the compressor terminals. See warnings S-17 before removing compressor terminal cover.
Fuse, circuit breaker, ground fault protective device, etc. has not tripped.
Using an ohmmeter, test continuity between terminals S-R, C-R, and C-S, on single phase units or terminals T2, T2 and T3, on 3 phase units.
If either winding does not test continuous, replace the compressor.
NOTE: If an open compressor is indicated, allow ample time for the internal overload to reset before replacing compressor.

Ground Test
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
Fuse, circuit breaker, ground fault protective device tripped?
If the protective device has tripped, an electrical problem exists and must be corrected.
Check the circuit protective device rating. It should coincide with the equipment nameplate.
Did the circuit protective device rating coincide with the equipment nameplate?
With the terminal protective cover in place, replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker ONE TIME ONLY.
Did the circuit breaker trip again after resetting?
If it opens again, DO NOT continue to reset. Disconnect all power to the unit.
DO NOT remove protective terminal cover. Disconnect the three leads going to the compressor terminals.
Defrost Thermostat Test
Install a thermocouple type temperature test lead on the tube adjacent to the defrost control. Insulate the lead point of contact.
Temperature at which the control closes its contacts for Part # 0130M00009P
Temperature at which the control closes its contacts for Part # 0130M00001P or B1370803
Temperature at which the control closes its contacts for Part # 0130M00085
Temperature at which the control opens its contacts for Part #0130M00009P
Temperature at which the control opens its contacts for Part # 0130M00001P or B1370803
Temperature at which the control opens its contacts for Part # 0130M00085
If not as above, replace control.

Heater Limit Control Check
WARNING; HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect ALL power before servicing or installing. Multiple power sources may be present. Failure to do so may cause property damage, personal injury or death.
Power disconnected?
Wiring removed from the control terminals?
Ohmmeter reading across the normally closed contacts
No reading indicates the control is open - replace if necessary.
If found open, was it replaced?
