Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!

Is the water softener in daily use?

If the water supply contains iron, regenerate the softener before sanitizing to remove iron from the resin.

CAUTION! HAZARD FROM TOXIC FUMES! CHLORINE BLEACH AND COMMON IRON CONTROL CHEMICALS MAY GENERATE TOXIC FUMES WHEN MIXED.

Does the unit use Culligan Sofner-Gard or other compounds containing sodium hydrosulfite, sodium bisulfite, or any other reducing agent?

If yes, disconnect the device feeding the chemical(s) and manually regenerate the unit before sanitizing.

Does the softener salt contain iron control additives?

If yes, do not use this procedure.

Remove clean-out plug and inspect the flow washer area (Figure 108)

Remove any foreign material lodged in or near the flow washer(s) (Figure 109)

NOTE: AVOID USING A SHARP OBJECT WHICH MIGHT CUT OR DAMAGE THE RUBBER FLOW WASHER(S). SHOULD IT NOT BE POSSIBLE TO CLEAR THE CONTROLLER THROUGH THE CLEAN OUT PLUG, REMOVAL OF THE FLOW CONTROL NIPPLE WILL BE REQUIRED TO GAIN BETTER ACCESS TO THE FLOW WASHER AREA.

If removal of the Backwash Flow Control nipple is necessary, disconnect the flexible tubing from the compression fitting.

Carefully separate the nipple from both the drain line and the Brunermatic valve (Figure 110). Inspect and clean flow washer(s) (Figure 111 and Figure 112)

Sign off on the Backwash Flow Controller Disassembly

Backwash Flow Control nipple replaced with compression fitting downstream of the flow washer

Flexible tubing connected to the compression fitting in the side of the Backwash Flow Control nipple

Clean-out plug inserted and tightened

Upload a photo of the reassembled Backwash Flow Controller

Is the Backwash Flow Controller plugged with scale, rust, or other foreign material?

If the Backwash Flow Controller is not plugged, report the status to the maintenance team and stop the procedure

Was the cleaning of the Backwash Flow Controller successful?

Enter the backwash flow rate after cleaning

Sign off on the Backwash Flow Controllers Service

Warning: Ensure you are working on the correct system

Electrical power to the MVP controller disconnected

Separate source isolation valve closed

External source of pressure to the pilot valve closed

Position dial on the pilot valve rotated to position #1
