Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!

Is the water softener in daily use on a potable water supply?

If the water supply contains iron, regenerate the softener before sanitizing to remove iron from the resin.

CAUTION! HAZARD FROM TOXIC FUMES! CHLORINE BLEACH AND COMMON IRON CONTROL CHEMICALS MAY GENERATE TOXIC FUMES WHEN MIXED.

IF THE UNIT USES CULLIGAN SOFNER-GARD® OR OTHER COMPOUNDS CONTAINING SODIUM HYDROSULFITE, SODIUM BISULFITE, OR ANY OTHER REDUCING AGENT, DISCONNECT THE DEVICE FEEDING THE CHEMICAL(S) AND MANUALLY REGENERATE THE UNIT BEFORE SANITIZING.

DO NOT USE THIS PROCEDURE IF THE SOFTENER SALT CONTAINS IRON CONTROL ADDITIVES.

Amount of household bleach (5.25% sodium hypochlorite) poured into the brine chamber

Upload a photo of the clean-out plug and flow washer area (Figure 108)

Any foreign material lodged in or near the flow washer(s) (Figure 109)?

NOTE: AVOID USING A SHARP OBJECT WHICH MIGHT CUT OR DAMAGE THE RUBBER FLOW WASHER(S). SHOULD IT NOT BE POSSIBLE TO CLEAR THE CONTROLLER THROUGH THE CLEAN OUT PLUG, REMOVAL OF THE FLOW CONTROL NIPPLE WILL BE REQUIRED TO GAIN BETTER ACCESS TO THE FLOW WASHER AREA.

Is removal of the Backwash Flow Control nipple necessary?

Upload a photo of the disconnected flexible tubing from the compression fitting

Upload a photo of the separated nipple from both the drain line and the Brunermatic valve (Figure 110)

Upload a photo of the inspected and cleaned flow washer(s) (Figure 111 and Figure 112)

Sign off on the Backwash Flow Controller Disassembly

Backwash Flow Control nipple replaced with compression fitting downstream of the flow washer

Flexible tubing connected to the compression fitting in the side of the Backwash Flow Control nipple

Clean-out plug inserted and tightened

Is the Backwash Flow Controller plugged with scale, rust, or other foreign material?

If the Backwash Flow Controller is not plugged, report the status to the maintenance team and stop the procedure

Was the cleaning of the Backwash Flow Controller successful?

Enter the backwash flow rate after cleaning

Sign off on the Backwash Flow Controllers Service

Disconnect the electrical power to the MVP controller

Make certain that the lines you shut off are for the system you are performing service on

Open by-pass valve if one is available

Close the inlet isolation valve

Close the outlet isolation valve

Close the manual brine valve (If installed)

Close the separate source isolation valve if one is available

Close any external source of pressure to the pilot valve

Rotate the position dial on the pilot valve to position #1
