The overload limiting clutch is an emergency protective device and should not be used to measure the maximum load to be lifted, or to sense the overload imposed by a constrained load.

While the overload limiting clutch will protect the hoist from damaging overloads, it will not ensure that a load is within the rated capacity of the hoist.

If the power fails with a load suspended, the hoist will automatically stop.

In an emergency the load can be lowered without power as follows:.

DISCONNECT HOIST FROM POWER SUPPLY AND REMOVE ELECTRICAL COVER.

Open disc brake manually by using two screwdriver blades, one on each side of the brake at a point close to the brake spring posts.

DISCONNECT HOIST FROM POWER SUPPLY

Spring Guide Plate and Limit Switch Adjustment

Pry the spring guide plate out of the slots in the limit switch nuts using a screwdriver

Turn the gold nut back to about the center of the threaded screw

Connect the hoist to the power supply

Ensure the green ground wire is properly grounded

Raise load block to upper limit and check if it stops automatically

Maintain minimum clearance from hoist housing to top of load block

Visually check the chain every time the hoist is used.

Measure the diameter of each link

Is the chain twisted or kinked?

Does the chain require replacement due to wear or damage?

Measure the outside length of a convenient number of links in an unworn section of chain.

Measure the outside length of the same number of links in a used section of chain.

Describe the frequency of use, severity of use, and environmental conditions for the hoist

Perform frequent inspections (daily to monthly)

Perform periodic inspections (monthly to yearly)
