CAUTION: Overload Limiting Clutch

Disconnect hoist from power supply and remove electrical cover

Use several quick releases instead of holding brake open continuously

Ensure normal lowering speed is not exceeded

WARNING: Avoid contact with rotating friction disc “C”

Disconnect hoist from power supply

Brake Gap Inspection and Adjustment

Measure the gap between the brake armature 'A' and the field 'B'

Is the gap within the acceptable range (0.015" to 0.040")?

Adjust the gap using a 9/16" socket on the 3 locknuts 'F' if necessary

Check with a feeler gauge to ensure the gap is the same on both ends of the solenoid

Disconnect hoist from power supply

Remove the electric brake assembly

Detach the chain stripper from the bottom of the hoist

Insert the new chain between the load sheave and the chain guide

Visually inspect the chain for the following issues

Measure the diameter of each chain link

Is any link diameter less than 0.225 inch?

Measure the outside length of a convenient number of links in an unworn section

Measure the outside length of the same number of links in a worn section

Is the worn chain more than 1.5% longer than the unused chain?

Is any section of the chain worn more than 1.5%?

Determine inspection frequency based on

Perform frequent inspections (daily to monthly)

Perform periodic inspections (monthly to yearly)

Conduct special inspections after significant repairs or operating occurrences

Use and file an Inspection and Maintenance Check List
