Check truck visually and inspect components

Test drive truck/check functional performance

Check torque on critical fasteners

Clean/check battery terminals, electrolyte level

Check battery cables/truck receptacle

Check the overhead guard for damage

Overhead guard is properly positioned

All mounting fasteners are in place and tight

No cracks have developed on the overhead guard

Sign off on the overhead guard check

• Keep a record of battery service and maintenance to obtain the best service life from your battery and truck. Select a pilot cell, take readings of specific gravity and temperature before and after charging, and record the readings with the date.

• It is best to change the location of the pilot cell occasionally to distribute any electrolyte loss over the battery.

• Every 2 or 3 months, take complete battery readings (specific gravity, temperature, and voltage) and make a record of them.;

Service and parking brakes operate freely and return to neutral properly

All hydraulic controls operate freely and return to neutral properly

Lift, tilt, and auxiliary (if installed) operate freely and return to neutral properly

Accelerator operates freely and returns to neutral properly

Directional controls operate freely and return to neutral properly

Steering system operates freely and returns to neutral properly

Service brake system is functioning properly

Brake pedal feels firm and does not move down farther after it stops

Parking brake releases and reapplies properly

• Check truck for obvious damage and leaks.

• Check/clean battery terminals.

• Check capacity, warning plates and decals.

• Check condition of tires and wheels, remove embedded objects.

• Check hydraulic sump oil level.

• Check gauges and instruments.

• Check warning lights and hour meter.
