Resistance Thermometer Check
Prepare Ice Water Mixture
Fill a thermos container with ice cubes or chips
Fill voids between the ice with plain water
Stir the solution until the mixture registers 0 to 0.3°C (32 to 32.5°F) using a laboratory thermometer
Check Resistance Thermometer Accuracy
Immerse the resistance thermometer in the 0°C (32°F) solution
Is the recommended length of the check probe immersed?
Does the resistance thermometer register 0°C (32°F)?
Rezero Check Thermometer
Refrigerant Charging
Checking the Refrigerant Charge
Ensure compliance with environmental laws
Set the controller set point to --25_C (--13_F)
Ensure the suction modulation valve is fully open
Measure container temperature
For Units equipped with receiver
Connect the gauge manifold to the compressor discharge and suction service valves
Partially block the condenser coil inlet air
Raise compressor discharge pressure to approximately 12 kg/cm@ (175 psig)
Recording Thermometer Element Replacement
Turn unit OFF and disconnect power source
Remove upper back panel and bulb clamps securing bulb to unit
Remove two flange screws from recording thermometer and feed capillary and element through the unit
Push replacement bulb end and capillary through the unit
Fill slots with silastic (RTV432, Dow Corning)
Attach bulb clamps tightly to bulb
Connect element flange to recorder ensuring hub of flange faces out to fit into the hole in instrument case
Rezero the recorder
Install inlet air grille and upper panel
Recording Thermometer Bulb Temperature Check
Preparation
Select the method for temperature stabilization
Unit Running Method
Set the unit's set point to 0°C (32°F)
Allow the unit to pull down to 0°C (32°F)
Enter the number of compressor ON-OFF cycles observed
Enter the temperature indicated by the resistance thermometer
Does the temperature differ from 0°C (32°F) by more than 0.6°C (1°F) when compressor cycles off?
Unit Off Method
Saginomiya Recording Thermometer Maintenance
Battery Maintenance
Open door and remove chart nut and platen.
Push voltage indicator test switch. Is the voltage indicator in the red or white zone?
Replace battery if voltage indicator points to the red or white zone.
Calibration
Install new chart on platen.
Place recorder bulb in ice bath for 10 minutes.
Rotate the chart by hand and check the stylus indicated temperature.
Is adjustment required for the stylus?
