Gear Box Assembly Dissassembly
Safety Precautions
Disconnect all electrical power to the actuator
Wear approved Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)
Ensure service personnel are licensed/trained and authorized
Use assistance when moving or lifting to avoid injury
Disassembly Procedure
Remove the position and torque limit switch compartment covers
Disconnect the electrical power leads to the motor
Remove the four fasteners retaining motor end bell and stator
High Potential Testing
Ensure no motor control cards are present
Select the voltage setting for the appropriate motor voltage as indicated on nameplate
Set the selected test equipment to the selected volts
Contact each test point shown on wiring diagram with the test equipment ground wire contacting the gear case plate
Verify the actuator withstands the applied voltage for one second per test point without breakdown
Check motor power circuits based on motor voltage (AC)
If using DC voltage, ensure it is 1.414 times the specified AC voltage
6 Monthly Linear Electric Actuator Lubrication
Initial Inspection
Remove the pipe plug (23) located in the side of the housing (1)
Inspect the lubricant for proper consistency and quality
Post Inspection Actions
Is the lubricant level adequate?
Is the lubricant free from visible contamination?
Lubricant Replacement
Replace the pipe plug tightly after inspection
If lubricant level is low or contaminated, describe the further inspection required
Geared Position Limit Switch Adjustment
Preparation
Disconnect all electrical power to actuator
Remove the position limit switch compartment cover (51)
Remove the motor pipe plug (100)
Actuator Shaft Adjustment
Rotate the shaft clockwise to extend the actuator shaft using a manual or power screwdriver
Are the rotor (#36-1) contact fingers closed?
Adjust rotor (#36-1) contact fingers

Disconnect all electrical power to the actuator
Ensure surface is cool before proceeding
Brake Removal
Remove the brake cover from the motor end bell
Disconnect the coil power wires from the terminal strip
Remove the brake assembly
