Manual Handwheel Clutch Assembly Dissassembly
Safety Precautions
Disconnect all electrical power to the actuator before disassembly
Wear approved Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) for the site
Keep hands clear of internal moving parts during operation
Ensure service personnel are licensed/trained and authorized
Use assistance when moving or lifting to avoid injury
Disassembly Steps
Shift the declutch lever (37) to the manual position
Is the drive shaft with gear teeth machined into it present?
Brake Adjustment
Preparation
Remove the brake cover to expose square head wear adjusting screws (15H) and expose the magnetic air gap “A”.
Air Gap Measurement
Measure the air gap “A” using 3/8” to 1/2” wide feeler gauge at the center of the magnet.
Adjustment
Select the model for adjustment
Turn the two square head wear adjusting screws until the air gap “A” measures the specified range for the selected model.
Caution
Ensure brakes are not adjusted for higher torques to prevent premature coil burnout.
High Potential Testing
Ensure no motor control cards are present
Select the voltage setting for the appropriate motor voltage as indicated on nameplate
Set the test equipment to the selected voltage
Contact each test point shown on wiring diagram with the test equipment ground wire contacting the gear case plate
Verify the actuator withstands the applied voltage for one second per test point without breakdown
Note: Motor power circuits are to be tested based on the motor voltage (AC). Dielectric strength tests may be made by applying a direct current (DC) voltage instead of an alternative current (AC) voltage, provided that the voltage used is 1.414 times the values specified above. See wiring diagram for test points.
Gear Box Assembly Dissassembly
Safety Precautions
Disconnect all electrical power to the actuator
Wear approved Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)
Be aware of internal moving parts and pinch point hazards
Ensure service personnel are licensed/trained and authorized
Use assistance when moving or lifting heavy components
Disassembly Steps
Remove compartment covers
Disconnect electrical power leads to the motor
Geared Position Limit Switch Adjustment
Preparation
Disconnect all electrical power to actuator
Remove the position limit switch compartment cover (51)
Remove the motor pipe plug (100)
Actuator Shaft Adjustment
Rotate the shaft clockwise to extend the actuator shaft
Are the rotor (#36-1) contact fingers closed?
Adjust rotor (#36-1) contact fingers
Clevis Pin Retraction and Second Rotor Adjustment
