Initial Open Loop Controller Correction Factor Testing
Run ten parts of equal lengths, 120" for example.
Measure the ten parts.
Enter the measured lengths of the ten parts.
Calculate the average length by adding up all ten parts and dividing by ten.
Use the formula for the new CORRECTION FACTOR using the average of the ten parts for 'actual measured length'.
Enter the calculated CORRECTION FACTOR.
Is the new CORRECTION FACTOR within acceptable limits?
Record any observations or issues encountered during testing.

Preparation
Set the SHEAR REACTION time to zero
Is there a die boost on the shear die?
Disable die boost by disconnecting the wire on the output of the controller
Slow the line speed to avoid metal jamming in the shear die, if necessary

Mark the parts

Ensure the MP300 SERIES controller is powered on
Verify the accuracy of the measuring device (steel tape or vernier caliper)
Initiate Automatic Calibration
Press the SETUP key until the calibration screen appears
Enter the calibration length (default is 120 inches)
Is the calibration length longer than 4 feet?
Measurement Device Verification
Is the measuring device a steel tape?
Initial Open Loop Controller Calibrate Trim Testing
Entering Calibrate Trim Mode
Press SETUP until the screen in figure 3-5 appears
Select the number for 'Trim Cal'
Input Measured Length
Enter the actual measured length of the last part cut
