Preparation of Cleaning Solutions

Dissolve 1 kg of NaOH in 100 litres of water or mix 2.2 litres of 33 % NaOH solution in 100 litres of water

Mix 0.7 litres of 53 % (36Be) HNO3 in 100 litres of water

Ensure no skin or mucous membrane exposure to NaOH and HNO3

Is the CIP flow rate at least the same as the production flow rate?

Ensure all necessary cleaning materials are available (soft brush, 10% nitric acid).

Verify that water used for cleaning solution has less than 300 ppm Cl ions.

Clean the plates with a soft brush and 10% nitric acid.

Ensure the following acids are not used with specific plates

Ensure all plates and gaskets are properly installed

Verify that the media side to be tested is closed

Ensure the other media side is open to the atmosphere

Enter the operating pressure of the unit

Is the operating pressure within the design pressure limit as stated on the name plate?

Perform pressure test on the closed media side

Did the pressure test confirm internal and external tightness of the PHE?
