Warning: The heatsink fins pick up dust from the cooling air. The ACx 600 can run into overtemperature Warnings and Faults if the heatsink is not cleaned regularly.

In normal environment, the heatsink should be checked and cleaned annually.

The dust should be removed gently with a soft brush if the cleaning is carried out in the same room where the unit is normally operated.

Compressed air should not be used for cleaning unless the installation can be taken apart and the cleaning is carried out in another room (or outdoors).

Was compressed air used for cleaning?

Fan rotation should be prevented (in order to prevent bearing wear) when using compressed air for heatsink cleaning.

Warning: Only trained personnel should perform this procedure.

Capacitor lifespan is within 100000 hours?

If lifespan exceeds 100000 hours, contact ABB for replacement.

Is the ambient temperature low?

Lowering the ambient temperature can prolong the capacitor life.

Any mains fuse failure or Fault trip observed?

If yes, contact ABB immediately.

Is there increasing noise from fan bearings?

Is there a gradual rise in the heatsink temperature despite cleaning?

If the above symptoms are present, fan replacement is recommended.

Was the fan successfully removed from the bottom of the frame?

Replacement fans are available from ABB. Do not attempt operation with other than ABB specified spare parts.
