Initial 24 Hours Belt Tension Check

Belt Tension Adjustment

Loosen six nuts (top and bottom) A

Adjust by turning (B)

Ensure nuts (C) are not loosened

Use belt tension checker to apply a perpendicular force to one belt at the midpoint of the span

Measure deflection distance of 4mm (5/32”)

Record the deflection force applied

Re-tighten nuts (A) after adjusting

Filter Cleaning

Filter Inspection

Check that all filters are installed ahead of the evaporator coil

Inspect filters for dirt and debris

Filter Maintenance

Clean or replace dirty filters with the same size and type

Ensure the unit is not operated without filters properly installed

Post Maintenance Check

Verify panel latches are properly positioned to maintain an airtight seal

Initial Equipment Inspection

Inspect unit for possible damage during transit

Note extent of damage on carrier’s freight bill if damage is evident

Request inspection by the carrier’s agent in writing

Ensure compliance with installation instructions and applicable codes

Disconnect furnace and shut-off valve from gas supply piping system for pressure testing above 1/2 PSIG

Replace gas valve if subjected to pressure greater than 1/2 PSIG

Isolate furnace from gas supply piping system by closing manual shut-off valve for pressure testing at or below 1/2 PSIG

Joints Leaks Check

Safety Warning

Natural gas may contain some propane. Propane is an excellent solvent and will quickly dissolve white lead and most standard commercial compounds. A special pipe dope must be used when assembling wrought iron or steel pipe. Shellac based compounds such as Gaskolac or Stalastic, and compounds such as Rectorseal #5, Clydes’s or John Crane may be used.

Open the main shut-off valve admitting normal gas pressure to the mains.

Check all joints for leaks with soap solution or other suitable material.

Never use a flame to test for gas leaks.

Use a commercially available soap solution made specifically for the detection of leaks to check all connections.

Failure to follow the safety warning exactly could result in serious injury, death or property damage. Never test for gas leaks with an open flame. A fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life.

Pipe Cleaning

Clean all piping of dirt and scale by hammering on the outside of the pipe.

Blow out loose particles from the piping.
